Build an AI that reads your entire inbox

Comment "INBOX" on Instagram and I'll DM you this guide.

You don't need to be a programmer to have an AI handle your inbox. There are two levels: the 10-minute version you can do today, and the always-on version that runs itself.

Level 1: The daily digest (10 minutes)

Every morning, run one prompt against your last 20 emails.

Here is my inbox for the last 24 hours. Give me: 1) a 2-line summary of what happened, 2) the 3 emails that actually need my reply, in order of priority, 3) a drafted reply for each. Be direct and short.

[PASTE EMAILS]

This alone clears the fog in about ten minutes.

Level 2: The always-on agent

To make it automatic, connect an AI assistant directly to your inbox. The two no-code options that work today:

  • n8n (self-hosted or cloud): a drag-and-drop automation tool. Build a flow that watches Gmail, sends new emails to AI, and drafts replies or labels them.
  • Zapier + ChatGPT: a Zap that triggers on new email, summarizes it, and posts the summary to Slack or Notion.

What to automate first

  1. Triage: label every incoming email as "reply now", "reply later", or "delete".
  2. Summarize long threads so you never re-read 30 messages.
  3. Draft replies to routine questions (pricing, scheduling, "is this done yet").

The rule that makes it work

AI drafts, you approve. For the first month, send nothing automatically. Let it draft into a "Needs review" label. Once it's right 9 times out of 10, you can let the routine stuff go out on its own.
